Recommended Supplies
I get asked often what calculators or test prep books I recommend, so here they are! If you click on the picture, they link to Amazon for more details but feel free to buy them where ever you wish.
Calculators
The color of the calculators does not matter, so pick your favorite color or which ever color you can find! Some schools do have rental programs for students. Please do not buy the Casio Calculators, I know they are much cheaper but they are much more difficult to use. Also pass on the TI 83, they are missing some important features.
This is a TI 84 Plus Graphing Calculator & is the same calculator I use. Graphing Calculators will be needed from Algebra 2 and up.

This is a TI 84 Plus CE, it does the same thing that the TI 84, it is just in color. Either graphing calculator will work.

This is the best little calculator, it can do fractions & square roots!! It is good for beginning math & is a life saver in PreCalculus! Recommend for all kids!

SAT & ACT Test Prep Books
The SAT or ACT are the big important tests for getting into college. I recommend taking both test, students generally score better on one of them & most colleges accept both test. You can take the test multiple times, but if you are not doing any prep work for it, you will probably make around the same score each time you take it. The best plan, is to do lots of problems, it speeds you up taking the test & improves confidence.
This is the book for the new SAT & will have the practice test to match the new format of the test--complete with the no calculator section!

This is the old SAT prep book, it is out of print & you can probably find a used copy fairly cheap. It is good for general practice problems.
|
This is the current ACT prep book & it is a bit pricey. If you can find a cheaper used or older edition, it will be fine.
